A small spring in Horná Poruba, easily recognizable by its striking wooden decoration, visible from afar. A statue of the Virgin Mary sits in a rock niche above the water, lending the place a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for a quick refreshment during a hike or bike ride in the Strážovské Vrchy Mountains. I haven't tried whether the water is drinkable :-D

The statue of St. Valentine dates back to 1998 and has a fascinating reputation. It tells that the waterman wandered here from Moravia and fell in love with the gingerbread woman Anička, who returned his love. However, their happiness together was hampered by the townspeople, who did not like the waterman. One day, however, Anička's gingerbread house caught fire. Waterman did not hesitate, he rushed to Váh and opened new springs from the underground, which put out the fire. Anička survived the accident, but Vodník did not. And so the residents of the town at that time had fountains built in the places where the water sprung. In memory of the heroic Waterman, a statue with his portrait was later erected here. In summer, wooden benches are set up near it, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view directly onto Trenčín Castle. In the evening, the unique fountain is complemented by light effects. When one overcomes the switchbacks through the dense forest on the blue route, a small meadow with a bench appears. It is approximately half the route from Omšenie na Baska. It's a great place for a short break. From here there is a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.

Drinking water is slowly becoming one of the rarest liquids. We should protect it and not waste it.

The steep rocky hill Omšenská baba, which rises above the village, is one of the dominants of the Strážovské vrchy. And not only that. It hides enormous natural wealth within the animal and plant kingdoms. Omšenská baba is built with Triassic dolomites of the hronika unit and underlying marls, shales and sandstones of the Cretaceous age, which belong to the fatrik unit. The SNP Heroes' Path runs below the hill.

Here you will find covered seating, a board with the legend of the white deer and, of course, the (wooden) deer itself. Between the trees there is a nice view of Trenčianske Teplice.

The spring is most likely dry. There is a statue of the Virgin Mary on the well. The Seven Sorrowful Virgin Mary became the patroness of Slovakia, the protector of the nation under the Tatras. Next, there is the Pilgrim's Prayer.
