Cape Kamenjak (Rt Kamenjak) is the southernmost point of the Istrian peninsula. The protected, natural area impresses with a 30-kilometer-long, rugged coastline with secluded bays and steep cliffs. In addition to a unique flora with wild orchids, you can even marvel at real dinosaur footprints here. An absolute must on every tour is the legendary, jungle-like Safari Bar at the very south, as well as the view of the offshore Porer lighthouse. The unpaved paths are very dusty and bumpy – a mountain bike or a robust gravel bike is ideal here. Entry to the nature park is free for hikers and cyclists.

The Golumbera Cave (Velika Kolombarica) is a spectacular sea cave at the extreme southern tip of Istria in the protected nature park Kap Kamenjak near Premantura. The cave is known for its crystal-clear, intensely turquoise water and the magical play of light created by an opening in the cave ceiling. An absolute highlight for cliff jumping, swimming, and snorkeling. Access for the brave is via a jump from the cliffs and then swimming inside 😁. We jumped from the smaller cliffs on the edge, which is quite doable 😀. In any case, note: only enter the cave in calm seas, as with strong waves or high tide, the space between the water level and the cave ceiling becomes dangerously narrow. Water shoes are also always an advantage due to the partially sharp rocks. A visit to the cave is definitely worth it.

Unfortunately, nothing more can be seen of the dinosaur tracks. Erosion, together with the feet of us tourists, has done a great job. However, the spot is still very beautiful due to its view (e.g., of the lighthouse).
