Liessel Mountain Bike Route

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

The route is located in the Liesselse forests, a typical Brabant forest. An attractive part is the place where the old Aa flows through the forest. The riparian vegetation provides variety there. If you follow the loop a few hundred meters upstream along the Berktsedijk, the road rises noticeably. Two weirs have been placed in the stream at a distance of only 100 metres. As a result, there is a fall of more than two meters in the stream. The location of the Peelrand fracture is clearly visible here.

In this forest you will also find the so-called Galgenberg. It is a clearing in the forest where the corpses of convicts used to be hung on a gallows as a deterrent and example.

The ATB network of the municipality of Deurne consists of 5 separate routes with a total length of 80 kilometers. The routes are linked to each other with connecting routes.

Of the routes of the route network, the Liessel route is the longest. Also the most beautiful from a landscape point of view because this piece of forest is not marred by a major through road. However, this part of the route contains few single tracks. After about 4 kilometers you have to be careful. Here you have to turn right just before the river Oude Aa. If your speed is too high before turning off, you can easily drive into the water here. After riding along the bank for about a kilometer, the route heads back into the forest. The turning point is two hundred meters before the war memorial. In the second part of the route, the fiercest hill of this route is conquered.

The route can be easily combined with the routes in: Deurne (Walsberg), Deurne (Zandbos), Liessel, Neerkant and Vlierden. The connecting routes are marked with the black MTB sign.

Nature Gate Bosrandweg, Someren

Highlight • Rest Area

The central meeting and accommodation point is Boscafé De Soete Inval. You will find toilets, additional tourist information and of course a nice place to enjoy the catering offer.

The recreation and nature development project “Keelven and surroundings” was started in 1998. The starting point was to make the Keelven area more attractive for recreation and to transform it into the situation as it used to be: a large heathland area with fens. To achieve this, approximately 15 hectares of poorly growing coniferous wood was felled. To make this open space more attractive, the existing relief (former fens) has been used in this area and some smaller fens have also been dredged. The new fens consist of open water and a wide natural bank with a puddle-marshy zone in which fen and wet heathland vegetation can develop.

The management of the area is aimed at doing justice to nature, forest experience and wood production in a forest through integrated forest management; the management of forests with both deciduous and coniferous wood, young trees and mature trees, shrub vegetation, fallen trunks, open spaces and dead wood. The heath is managed by mowing and grazing by ponies and Scottish Highlanders, who ensure that grasses do not dominate and the area remains poor so that the heath can continue to thrive where possible.

Keelven is located on the south side of Natuurpoort Vennenhorst, a very attractive area in a beautiful landscape with forests, fens and heathland. In order to allow recreationists to benefit as much as possible from the natural beauty, in addition to the signposted theme walking routes that often run through forest paths, special paved walking paths have also been constructed. These unique Allemans routes are accessible for a stroller, wheelchair or mobility scooter. The paths are safe and have no major obstacles. They are rightly walking routes for Alleman! An educational nature trail has also been developed with the IVN and rest points with picnic sets and beautiful viewpoints have been created along the way. There are also signposted cycling and mountain bike routes and horse riding routes through the Keelven area.

MTB Route Helmond

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

Very nice route in the forest northeast of Helmond. There are beautiful residents, sharp turns and even a few small jumps. The lap is quite short and can therefore be done well several times.

Dijkstraat Mountain Bike Trail

Highlight • MTB Park

Very nice loop for the MTB located on the Dijkstraat. Ideal for beginners! The course is fairly new and the curves are not ideally connected, the advanced mountain biker who drives faster through this will especially notice this.

The route consists of a number of paved bends interspersed with pieces of classic single track. In the middle part you can do a small drop, you do this by driving straight down the hill instead of following the route to the right. There is also a choice in the course to ride a small rock garden next to the normal path.

Please note, there are bridle paths across the terrain that cross the MTB route several times.

Just ride into the road and a little further on you can optionally stop for a drink and a bite to eat. Or you can cycle straight ahead to the Keelven, where a gravel path has been made all the way around. So you can go all the way around, or you can take the turn-off into the woods halfway, also a gravel path.

November 18, 2025, Dak van Brabant

The Roof of Brabant, located on the Gulberg near Nuenen/Mierlo, is an artificial hill that emerged from a former landfill and is now one of the region's most striking landmarks. With a summit of approximately 60 meters, the hill offers a panoramic view rarely found anywhere else in Brabant. From the summit, you can look out over the Luchense Heide, the surrounding forest, the Eindhoven Canal, and, on a clear day, even as far as Eindhoven and Helmond. The slopes of the Gulberg are covered with rugged grass and shrubs, making the area a habitat for birds and small mammals. The summit is regularly visited by hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, but it remains a place where you literally stand above the landscape. The contrast between the natural environment and its industrial origins makes it a unique viewpoint that is always worth pausing for a moment.
