Even outside the bathing season, the Lido is a worthwhile stop: The view extends across the wide lake basin to Rigi and Pilatus, while the lakeside promenade invites you to linger, take a breath, or take photos.

The Lido is a public open-air swimming pool with an entrance fee, a sunbathing lawn, and a sandy beach that is almost reminiscent of Italy. Within the area, which also offers a magnificent view of the Central Swiss mountains and Lake Lucerne, there is, among other things, the restaurant "Lido-Beach", which has a lavish menu with all sorts of delicacies. It's self-service! A pager on the table vibrates when the food is ready for collection. If the weather isn't cooperating, you can quickly switch from the outdoor to the almost circular indoor area. The toilets are well-maintained and separated by gender. We tasted the Caesar salad with "Swiss" chicken skewers at Lido-Beach and were more than satisfied. Price, as of summer 2025: CHF 24 per person. The Lido-Beach can be booked for private events such as weddings and the like. Directly opposite the Lido are the parking spaces (not exactly cheap), which can also be paid for via parking apps. Attention! Fines are diligently handed out! And then on the other side of the road from the Lido there is also the Swiss Transport Museum, which is known throughout Switzerland. A must-have for families!

Taking the car ferry over with your bike 🚲 is much cheaper than the crossing ferry from Gersau 😉

The Bannalpsee is a popular excursion destination in central Switzerland and is located in the municipality of Wolfenschiessen in the canton of Nidwalden. The lake is located in a beautiful mountain landscape at an altitude of 1587 meters above sea level. The Bannalp reservoir is fed by the Bannalpbach and the Secklisbach, the latter of which flows out of the lake. The Bannalp power station is operated by the Nidwalden Cantonal Electricity Works (EWN).

The ferry takes guests to the other side of the river as quickly as possible and offers a wonderful view of the entire landscape.

You can't get all the way around Lake Lucerne (unless you drive on the motorway...🧐). Since I wouldn't recommend this, the car ferry is a good option. For CHF 12 you can enjoy a 20-minute ride across the lake. Half-fare or GA tickets don't count, unfortunately, as it's in private hands. The ferry always runs...:40. Have fun on the crossing!
