The castle of Montroi is a fortress of Arab origin that is located to the west of the town on a hill in the Alcalans valley. This fortress was part of the defensive structure of this valley together with the castle of Monserrat. There are barely any remains of the wall that surrounded the enclosure. Currently, only the tribute tower remains standing, with a square plan and four heights. Its construction was based on thick brick walls in facades that are reduced to each floor and a central portico resolved with a semicircular arch. This construction system makes up two rooms for each floor, which are accessed by a staircase that in its first section runs next to the central portico and in the second next to the perimeter wall. The vaulted cistern and the grocery store were located in this tower.

This is the epic mountain road along the cliff. It is in very good condition and hardly any cars pass by. Right at this point, there is a parking lot where you can leave your bike and go up the narrow path, if you want to visit the castle. The views of the reservoir from the top are very beautiful.

Bunyol Castle is located on two massifs connected by a bridge. It is a fortress of Arab origin that throughout its life has undergone many changes of use according to the time and its occupants. These variations have obviously generated many changes in their appearance as well. It is one of the best preserved castles in the entire Valencian Community. This is largely due to its geographical position and the fact that it is not isolated because, throughout its history, the town has been growing all around it. Another fundamental factor for its current state of conservation is the fact that, after having lost its defensive function, part of the population of Bunyol has taken over these spaces, taking advantage of the walls of the fortress to build his own home.
