We went to the great Gumben today. We walked straight down the path from the Y-tree. But we didn't jump or even slide😱.

The Strette and Inzecca gorges further east come from the Fiurmorbo river. These canyon-shaped gorges stretch for more than 13 kilometers and offer extraordinary landscapes that can be admired while traveling the narrow and winding D344 from Ghisoni.

The pools on the Y-tree are just awesome. Jumps of 6 - 22 m are probably possible here. There is also an adventurous water slide.......... but you need a lot of courage to try it here. Anyone who has jumped can either get out or swim through the first pool and at the end of it go down the slide straight into the lower pool. You can get back on the left side of the river by climbing over the rocks at the end of the pool. If you haven't had enough, you can jump off the highest rock into the third pool. Important: The river does not always carry the same amount of water. That's why it's so important to dive down and check if the pools are deep enough before you jump! Jump at your own risk!

Extremely impressive nature experience. Were there in the late afternoon, the Canonyinger have just come from above. As the descendants were we were all alone - fantastic. Thanks to the Rother hiking guide for this tour.

Although the Strette Gorge is not quite as deep and wild as the Inzecca Gorge, this section of the route is also very remarkable. The Orbu, which has not been tamed by a hydroelectric power plant, rushes through the gorge, while you can collect new, great landscape impressions after every bend. You should also experience this highlight uphill, because the very narrow and very winding road takes up too much of your attention going downhill.

The boldly carved into the rock road winds with moderate slope through the spectacular Inzecca gorge, in the bottom of which partly house-sized boulders piled up. Above and below the gorge are the reservoirs of a hydroelectric power station, which does not detract from the scenic beauty of this route. Absolutely recommendable and applicable value.

The main canyons directly accessible from Ghisoni are those carved by the Fium'Orbu river: the Inzecca Gorge and the Strette Gorge. These offer impressive scenery with clear, often emerald-hued waters flowing through granite rock formations, providing opportunities for aquatic activities and scenic drives.
Yes, some sections of the Fium'Orbu river, particularly within the Inzecca Gorge and Strette Gorge, are suitable for 'aqua rando' (water trekking) and offer natural pools for swimming and 'pool hopping'. The Natural Pools at the Y-Tree are also a popular spot for swimming and jumps, though some jumps require courage.
The best time to visit the canyons for aquatic activities is typically during the warmer months, from late spring through early autumn (May to September), when water levels are generally suitable and the weather is pleasant for swimming and outdoor exploration. Always check local conditions and weather forecasts before planning your trip.

The canyons around Ghisoni, primarily the Fium'Orbu's Inzecca and Strettes, offer a wild and untamed beauty with significant ecological value. While they provide excellent 'aqua rando' and scenic experiences, canyons in the Bavella massif (like Purcaraccia, Pulischellu, and Vacca) are often known for more technical and sporty descents with significant abseils, catering to more experienced canyoners. The Ghisoni canyons are generally more accessible for a wider audience, including those seeking refreshing river experiences without complex rope work.
When visiting natural pools like those at the Y-Tree, it's crucial to always check water depth before jumping, as river levels can vary. Always exercise caution, especially on slippery rocks. For any canyoning activity, it's recommended to go with experienced guides or ensure you have the necessary skills and equipment. Be aware of weather changes, as heavy rain can quickly affect water levels.
