Highlight • Rest Area

Check out the great slippers! There's a super friendly guy here and it makes for a welcome stop as you will probably need water. I completely ran out of liquid at this point of the Atlas Mountain Race, and didn't even bother waiting for sunrise to do the beautiful descent through the canyon.

Ait Mansour Oasis

Highlight • Natural

After riding through wide open desert this oasis is a stunningly beautiful break. The road winds it's way slowly up covered in arching palm trees. There are a few guesthouses along the route with rooftop cafes with mint tea and berber omelette. Great place to escape the midday sun.

Ait Mansour Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The drive through the gorge to the Ait Mansour oasis is like a visual rape. Since the surface of the path for road bikes is borderline, double caution should be exercised, especially when descending. A must for all Tafraoute travelers.

Kasbah of Tamegroute

Highlight • Historical Site

It's best to agree on a price before the tour ;) We were shown around for about an hour. It was very beautiful and interesting, the Kasbah is a small labyrinth. We didn't ask how much it would cost beforehand, but he wanted 200 MAD, so we were able to negotiate a bit.

Coming from the desert (Atlas Mountain Race route) via the Afra-Tagmout track, this is the first supply station. The small supermarket isn't open all day, but the owner is quickly informed and opens when hungry cyclists arrive.

That's right. A little further on, you'll find a veritable Garden of Eden with argan trees. However, this isn't the Ait Mansour Gorge, as stated in the heading, but rather the gorge of the Amtoudi spring. Ait Mansour is closer to Tafraoute.

Apart from accommodation, it is also possible to ask to visit the Kasbah (20 dirham) and there is a restaurant with terrace to eat or just have a drink on the road. Beautiful views of the surroundings!

Beautiful hiking destination in an impressive landscape. The path starting from the old village of Tazeka is easy to walk and partly marked. No food options along the way.
