Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)

Highlight • Viewpoint

As one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Norway, Preikestolen is also one of the most popular hiking destinations in the country. The platform drops vertically over 600 meters into the sea and offers a fantastic view of the Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains. It is best to start early in the morning or in the evening (don't forget your headlamp!) to enjoy the view before the crowds of tourists arrive.

View of Lysefjord

Highlight • Viewpoint

The ascent and descent each take a good 2 hours. You should definitely have sturdy shoes and rainwear with you. There is WiFi at the parking lot ;-) and you can buy food and find a toilet.

View of Jøssingfjord

Today I walked the route to the Kobolten. I found the signage and route routing to be inadequate. I was disappointed with the Kobolt and I can hardly understand why the route is advertised and suggested as an alternative to the Kjerag. The route is in poor condition. Therefore, be sure to wear hiking shoes. I think it is too difficult for children under 10 years old. Ascent approx. 1.5 hours. The views are beautiful, but you can hear the titanium mining plant in the background for quite a long time. I cannot recommend the route to Kobolten. Greetings G from O

Lysefjord Viewpoint

The detour to the vantage point is worth it! From here you have an amazing view of the fjord and across to the steep edge. There is also less going on here than at Kjeragbolten.

Fjordstigen Trail Along Lysefjord

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Difficult, spectacular climb between Songesand Ferjekai and Bakken Gard / Bratteli right along the Lysefjord.

At komoot, the path seems to be a bit off the mark and, above all, much easier to appreciate than it is. Due to the sometimes very large boulders and places exposed (ok, you would only slip / fall a few feet, directly into the fjord) I would estimate T4 times.

What a tour. One highlight follows another. Behind every bend or rock face a different panorama. Norway, you are gorgeous. I love you. We will come again.

The path on the north side - ascent - is steep and difficult to walk in wet weather. The red markings are partly no longer visible and the paths are mostly overgrown. Not so easy.

Yes, it's muddy and impassable, but still dramatic high above the fjord, and the view of the glacier-carved peaks is truly 😊 amazing. Non-slip and, if possible, waterproof shoes 👟 are a must.
