Grundbach Valley

Highlight • Gorge

Very beautiful, in the upper part almost a bit of a gorge-like valley. You change the side of the stream a few times without any problems and look forward to the view after the next bend.

The Braunewaldsgrund I discovered more by chance and was so fascinated and somehow enchanted by this rustic, wild, partly impassable and romantic nature.
Start was from the parking lot Grundmühle. …

Currently you can get through the trail quite well again. The bridges have been renewed and there is not so much junk lying around anymore!

Föhrenbachtal Trail

Very nice, rustic forest path along the stream, a bit short but still worthwhile. Time has stood still here.

Beautiful and currently very exciting to see how the water masses from the heavy rain in the summer have transformed the valley. The bottom line is that it remains a mystery to me why the two valleys are so neglected. Officially there are still (or lying...) closure signs around. Today the village of Laubach organized a medium-sized hiking event ("Hiking with others"), the routes offered were all on the gravel roads (which are currently in great condition due to the expansion of the power line) and neither through the Grundbachtal nor through the Glasebachtal. Why is that? Why don't we take care of these natural treasures and instead let people "hike" on paths where heavy-duty trucks drive on weekdays?

Status 09/23, actually free, there are no more trees that could fall in ;-) But it's extremely overgrown, with lots of nettles and thorns - ouch! Not all stream crossings have bridges; after heavy rain, the streams are sometimes very washed out and difficult to navigate.

Beautiful, wild and romantic hike. However, the path is not maintained. We had to cross at least 8 fallen trees and after a week of rain the trail was very muddy. Still worth it!
