From here, you get a fantastic view down the length of Nanos' east-facing escarpment, all the way towards Pleša, at the southern end. The massif wears a cloak of woodland, only occasionally punctuated by limestone, a fantastic sight. It's a demanding hike up to this point from the village of Strane but the going gets easier between here and Suhi vrh.

At 4,308 feet (1,313 m), Suhi vrh is the highest point on the Nanos plateau. While it's not as popular as Pleša at the massif's southern end, a hike around the edge of the escarpment here is wonderful, with big views and plenty of interesting karst features. The obvious start point for a hike to the summit is the village of Strane.

Although not the main summit of Planinska gora, Grmada's location on the edge of the Hrušica plateau's east-facing escarpment endows it with excellent views. There are many hiking trails up onto the plateau from the village of Planina, taking in beautiful meadows and woodland.

Vojkova koča is a mountain hut just by the summit of Pleša on the great Nanos plateau. It’s named after Janko Premrl, also known as Vojko, who was a Yugoslav folk hero for his anti-facist actions during the Second World War. He famously led the Partisans against the Italians during the Battle of Nanos on 18th April 1942. Sadly, he died in battle at Idrijski Log in 1943.
