Small but cosy. A few sleeping spaces in the ‘living room’ by the wood burner, plus the ‘attic suite’ where I slept on the floor. Apparently, the bothy’s getting a makeover this summer (2026), which should create a bit more sleeping space. I cycled here on a gravel bike (not hiked, although I did a fair share of hike-a-bike tbh in the snow!).

A useful waypoint. Northwards it's a steep dirt path climb over to Spittal of Glenshee - aka hike-a-bike. Southwards, a nice track down to Enochdhu.

Gulabin Lodge was built in 1846 and originally served as a manse for the local church. The lodge has a notable Austrian connection through Gustav Fischnaller, a notable figure in Scottish skiing, who established the Cairnwell Mountain Sports Ski School in Glenshee in 1970.
