Manor Park Pond

Highlight • Lake

The small lake is not only beautiful to look at. The reeds also provide a habitat for various small animals such as the water vole. Nesting boxes for barn owls have been installed in the park by the Forest Commission. Both the small animals in the grass and the water voles in the reeds are good prey for the owls.

Lake in Stadt Moers Park

Highlight • Natural

Stadt Moers Park gradually emerged, named after Knowsley's twin town of Moers in Germany. The Park is divided into four 'areas' by the Liverpool/Manchester Railway and M57 Motorway. Each of these areas is different in character: From the formal parkland and playgrounds of West-View, to the rugged nature areas of Tushingham, Stadt Moers Park provides the perfect setting to experience 'countryside close to home'. The Stadt Moers Park Visitor Centre, off Pottery Lane, is run by The Sustainability and Environmental Development Division and provides information, exhibitions and toilet facilities. The Site Rangers also deliver a programme of education sessions and public events throughout the year. merseyforest.org.uk/things-to-do/walks-bike-rides-and-more/woodlands/stadt-moers-country-park

Beautiful woodland surrounds two disused reservoirs and is home to a diverse group of birds and insects, with over 100 bird species and a wide variety of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies recorded. Trying to have a break or eat a sandwich is impossible here due to the ducks, geese and swans all trying to get to your food. A beautiful place with a coffee shop at the top which sells a few cakes etc but no toilets.
