The Mayo House

Highlight • Historical Site

I had a great tour here with a couple tour guides today. I signed up for a Minnesota Historical Society membership last weekend and you can get in free with that. Otherwise it was about 6 bucks a person. There are a lot of artifacts in the house, most are not originals that the Mayo Family owned, as they moved down to Rochester, but some are from them. The house was built by the Mayo's and later owned by the family behind Green Giant. It's a neat house with a lot of great history. Worth stopping in!

Mother Louise Park in Le Sueur

Highlight • Rest Area

Nice park next to the Mayo house named after the two wives name Louise, one Mayo and the other Cosgrove. This was the second plot of land that the Mayo's owned and was where they kept a garden to grow herbs for his doctoring.

Union Trail Brewery

Highlight • Pub

Good beer, not nearly as big a menu as the old U4IC Brewing, but they have some nice paintings on the walls, a nice big beer garden patio out front, lots of parking, and a food menu.

Was a good stopping point at the north end of the new Humingbird Trail, had a Blakeley Backroads IPA, good fuel to get back to Henderson!

A small county park with a big campground! The campground and park just have pit toilets and porta-potties, but there is a lot of land to spread out. Picnic tables and firepits and dispersed about the campground.
