Nice sheltered picnic area on both sides of the building with power I have seen people charging their ebikes while taking a break.

The public launch point for this lake. This launch was quite active tonight even though it was down a road closed to public traffic while they do some construction. There was a kid fishing on the dock (this is not a fishing dock). Another boat came and got ready to launch while I was trying to get the paddleboard on the water, and they came off right at the same time I did. Plus there were people just parked in the load when I came back who were smoking.

There is quite a bit of elevation you come down on the road to the landing, and it forms a loop. This year it was especially washed out and treacherous, was worried for my car, but I made it down and back a couple times, once to launch and once to pick up. Had to ask some kids to clear out who were fishing from shore when I got there, and then a golf cart was coming with a family when I tried to load up, they left without saying anything.

On Lake Washington this is the happening place! I stopped while paddling past today and listened to a few tunes from the band playing outside. There were a lot of people sitting at tables, and a lot of boats floating and listening to the music. The boat launch next door is listed on the DNR's site as public, so this is another place to get on the lake.

Nice park next to the Mayo house named after the two wives name Louise, one Mayo and the other Cosgrove. This was the second plot of land that the Mayo's owned and was where they kept a garden to grow herbs for his doctoring.

July 20, 2026, The Mayo House

I had a great tour here with a couple tour guides today. I signed up for a Minnesota Historical Society membership last weekend and you can get in free with that. Otherwise it was about 6 bucks a person. There are a lot of artifacts in the house, most are not originals that the Mayo Family owned, as they moved down to Rochester, but some are from them. The house was built by the Mayo's and later owned by the family behind Green Giant. It's a neat house with a lot of great history. Worth stopping in!
