Čaršijska džamija u samom centru Brke je jedna od dvije džamije u ovom selu i novijeg je datuma. Izgrađena je na temeljima stare pobrklinske džamije koja je poslije oko 100 godina postojanja srušena zbog nedostatnog prostora i funkcionalsnosti. Pripada džematu* koji nosi ime Brka Nova a koji broji oko 410 domaćinstava. *Džemat za muslimane predstavlja temeljnu, osnovnu i najmanju organizacionu jedinicu. Prije Drugog svjetskog rata Hadžiċi su brojali nekoliko imuċnijih, rodbinski blisko povezanih familija. Braċa Ahmet i Bešlaga su što naslijedili, što stekli: prostrane njive, duċane, hanove, kovačnice, stoku i zaprežna kola; gradili su velike i lijepe kuċe… Nije ni čudo da su imali vlastiti sokak. Sve je to odnio rat. Ahmet je umro relativno mlad prije rata, a njegova dva sina, Ibrahim i Sadik, strijeljani su istog dana pri kraju rata. Iza njih su ostali stara majka Hadžira i njihove supruge Safija i Ifeta, obje sa po četvoro male djece. Oslobađanje zemlje Jugoslavije značilo je i oduzimanje zemlje od bogatijih zemljoposjednika i formiranje zemljoradničkih zadruga. Novoformirana pobrklinska zemljoradnička zadruga je za dugogodišnju kolektivnu poljoprivrednu proizvodnju u velikoj mjeri koristila raniju zemlju Hadžiċa. Dvije porodice bez ‘muške glave’, sa osmoro djece, ostali su skupa u velikoj, lijepoj kuċi, ali bez sredstava za život. Raniji imuċni život smijenilo je siromaštvo i ‘golo’ preživljavanje. Posjedi i imetak su se raspadali, porodice su se razdvojile, potomstvo raselilo, ostatak zemlje rasprodavao… Hadžiċa sokak je sve manje i manje pripadao Hadžiċima. Danas je tu, na ostatku ranijeg velikog imanja, još samo najmladji Sadikov unuk.

Sadašnje naselje Brka čini nekoliko dijelova: Centar (kod starijih poznatiji kao Čaršija), Stara Brka sa Gornjom Mahalom (na desnoj obali rijeke Brke, povezana s dva mosta sa centrom), Gornja Brka (na ulazu u selo iz pravca Gornjeg Rahiċa), Nova Brka, dio od centra Brke prema Brčkom, te posljednjih desetljeċa naseljeni dio sela uz put prema tzv. ‘Malezijskom putu’ (Đačka ulica i Šterac). Iz glavnih saobraċajnica kroz Brku vode brojni sokaci, od kojih veċina, onih odvajkada, nose imena starih pobrklinskih familija, koje su do prije nekoliko desetljeċa uglavnom i nastanjivale te sokake. Sokaci su jednostavno bili njihovi vlastiti, a ne javni putevi. Danas to nije tako. I u te sokake su se naselile brojne pridošlice, nove familije. Sada sokaci pripadaju i njima, a ne samo starosjediocima, čija imena nose. Gornja Brka ima samo jedan sokak koji nosi ime jedne familije – Jukiċa sokak. U centru Brke, koji počinje kod stare Palanačke ceste, nailazimo s lijeve strane puta iz pravca Gornjeg Rahiċa do tromeđe na dva ‘familijarna’ sokaka: Smajloviċa i Čolakoviċa sokak, a od tromeđe u pravcu Brčkog slijede: Hadžiċa sokak, Džajiċa, Musiċa, Hadžimuhamedoviċa i Pamukčiċa sokak Stara Brka broji pet ‘familijarnih’ sokaka: Meškoviċa, Muratoviċa, Hasiċa, Haskiċa i Mehakoviċa sokak, a Nova Brka tri: Jašareviċa, Mahmutoviċa i Omerhodžiċa sokak.

Svi ti momci i djevojke koji su ‘uz rat’ ili neposredno poslije NOR-a rođeni, pripadaju prvoj generaciji ‘iškolovanih’ Pobrklija. Oni su nakon srednjoškolskog obrazovanja odlazili kojekuda ‘za poslom’, najčešċe u Brčko i Banoviċe (poslije izgradnje pruge) i uglavnom zauvijek napuštali svoje rodno selo. A zatim je uslijedio val odlazaka u pečalbu, što je Brku lišilo još jednog produktivnijeg dijela stanovništva, uključujuċi mladost. Kasnije ċe to Brku lišavati i dotadašnje tradicionalnosti, šarma, seoske idile, čistoċe… Pod pritiskom u pečalbi stečenih marki, šilinga i franaka, te novih ideja o modernom životu, Brka se nasilno mijenjala i transformisala u sadašnju bezličnost. Po cijelom selu i unaokolo ubrzano su nestajali jedno za drugim: stare tradicionalne, bijelo okrečene bosanske kuċe; drvene tarabe i dvorišne kapije; kamenim oblutkom pokaldrmisane avlije, ukrašene rajom (prkosom); đermovi i bunari sa vitlom i nadstrešnicom; cvijetne bašte, hladovita grožđa, stabla duda, višnje, džanarike, kruške ‘lubeničarke’, jabuke ‘ranke’… Sad je Brka takva kakva je! Puna velikih kuċa okovanih u beton i asfalt. S uskim tokom prljave vode u kanalisanom, ispravljenom i od drveċa ‘oslobođenom’ koritu nekadašnje rijeke. Izvan važnih puteva, zanemarena i od mnogih zaboravljena.
