Col de Haussire Climb (Southwest via Rue Sainte-Marguerite)

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

According to the sign at the top: number 1 of the toughest climbs in Belgium. Partly due to its length, much harder than La Redoute!
The climb can be started at different points. I started in the center of La Roche-en-Ardenne right next to the church (see photos) and went past the cemetery (I think the toughest option). This highlight starts at a different point (not at the church), but largely the same way up.
So if you are looking for a challenge, try this one. Really much tougher than La Redoute or similar climbs in the more northern part of the Ardennes.

I had this climb in my route of July 22, 2018, link: komoot.nl/tour/182753618. A beautiful and challenging route.

Kneiff is a hill in the Ardennes, in the commune of Troisvierges, in northern Luxembourg, near the tripoint shared with Belgium and Germany. At 560 metres, it is the highest point in the country; it is 1 m taller than Buurgplaatz, which is often erroneously considered Luxembourg's highest point. It lies close to the town of Wilwerdange.

TRIP NOTES.
Kneif 560m, Luxembourg, UN Country High Point.
I walked this along with Signal de Botrange 694m (Belgium) and Vaalserberg 321m (Netherlands) so that I could say I did the Benelux three peaks in one day.

3.7km, 45min, ascent 62m.
An unremarkable hike to take in Luxembourg’s country HP. We took in the white spot marker for Kneiff’s summit top along with the Buergplaz tower (disputed top). You can drive to both tops but we walked. Still nice scenery and plenty of parking at the start point.

July 27, 2025, Col de Haussire Climb (Southwest via Rue Sainte-Marguerite)

A "nice hill" in the Ardennes. The quality of the asphalt makes it a bit harder. Luckily, it's located in the forest, making it easy to ride even in summer. Eat well and drink plenty of water beforehand.

A beautiful vantage point, it's no longer the highest point in Luxembourg. But it's worth a trip.

Accessible from one side with a racing bike. The other side is off-road (doable, but risk of puncture)

Very nice climb! Steep but certainly not impossible. Depending on where you start, the climb is actually divided into 2 or 3 parts. Try to recover before you have to pedal up another 2km at about 8-10% at the end. Not steep, but long! I didn't like the descent myself: too steep for me in combination with bad asphalt. But still definitely worth doing the climb!
