The six oak sculptures, created in 1996 by Hartmut Hornung, stand next to the parking lot on the main road and do not have much to do with the castle park.

There is an information board in the palace gardens detailing the palace's eventful history. All that remains of the last new palace building in 1888 is an archway and the remains of a concrete foundation, after the buildings were demolished in 1979/80 as part of the GDR's border security measures.

At Lenzen Castle, you can not only get valuable information from the BUND (German Environmental Foundation) on the Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve, the Green Belt, and much more. In the castle restaurant, you can also enjoy fantastic cakes and coffee until 5:00 PM. A quick glance at the menu will probably whet your appetite for dinner in the evening. Reservations are recommended, though.

The former Wehningen Castle from 1285 had a very checkered history until it came into the possession of Count von Bernstorff in 1842. At the end of the 18th century the castle burned down and was rebuilt in 1906. In 1979/1980 it fell victim to the border security measures of the GDR and was demolished. Today only the archway and the beautiful castle park with mighty oaks, giant cedar trees and the castle pond are left. At the entrance to the Wehninger church from 1838, eleven bricks with imprints of dog and cat paws can be seen as a sign of excommunication. Inside the church is a remarkable 16th-century alabaster relief and painted carvings. In August 1996 a sculpture symposium took place in the castle park. https://lueneburg.city-map.de/02015100/schlosspark-wehningen
