If you like waterfalls then this is your trek! It can get a bit muddy, and certainly slippy when wet/winter so caution is advised but either way it's a beautiful trek with lots of waterfalls. A local treasure.

Lumb Falls

Highlight • Waterfall

The poet Ted Hughes (writer of The Iron Giant amongst many others) used to play and swim here as a child. It's a deep pool underneath a small waterfall. Lumb falls is a popular place for locals to swim when the weather's hot, and its somewhat remote location means that (excepting seriously hot days) it's relatively quiet. The water, while refreshing, can also be very cold!

A very quaint small stone bridge on the Brontë Trail. A flash flood in May 1989, swept the bridge away. In March 1990, a Lynx helicopter from No. 9 Regiment Army Air Corps, airlifted five gritstone slabs into the narrow valley to allow park rangers to repair the crossing.
