Perła Zachodu Mountain Lodge

A historic inn in a particularly picturesque place (on the edge of a cliff) in Borowy Jar. It is worth stopping to admire the bridge over the Bóbr River in this place, and you can always eat there too!

The restaurant was established in 1927 after the creation of the artificial Modrego Lake right here on the river. There is also a viewing tower with a great view of the lake!

Witka Dam

Highlight • Structure

The reservoir was built from 1958-1962 to supply the nearby brown coal power plant in Turow with hot and cold water.
After extreme precipitation in August 2010, first the dam between the Kristynasee and the Neisse in Hradek nad Nisu and then on 07.08.2010 the old dam burst, which led to severe flooding and damage in the towns along the Neisse.
Today, these are largely eliminated, but flood tags on some buildings and plaques still announce it.

One of the beautiful lakes that were created after the now inactive German mines. The purple color of this lake (!) is due to iron ore and sulfur. The lake is also surrounded by beautiful rock formations, and the air smells of sulfur...

The observation tower at Grabownica Pond is a great place for bird and nature lovers. The wooden, 13-meter-high structure from 2008 allows you to admire the pond and its winged inhabitants - you can meet swans, greylag geese, herons and cranes. Interesting dam. Unfortunately, crossing the dam wall isn't always possible. It probably always depends on the mood of the workers there, whether they want to unlock the gate.

The name of this small lake comes from Princess Daisy Hochberg von Pless (1873–1943), the last owner of Książ. It was one of her favorite places to relax. Interesting ruins here include a viewing tower with a hunting lodge, which the princess ordered built here. The lake itself, sometimes called Zielony, was created in the 19th century as a result of quarrying reef limestone on the slopes of Mount Witosz. The lake has a false bottom due to sediments, dead trees and vegetation. The real depth may be as much as 23 meters.
