Tips from the Community

Kaspar Kundert
December 8, 2024, Morningside Cottage (German Colonial House)

"Morningside Cottage was erected as a weekend retreat during the German colonial period in the early 1900s. The place can be reached on foot starting from the end of Boma Road. There is a splendid view from the cottage which overlooks Morogoro town and the surrounding landscape" (https://www.dpd.sua.ac.tz/morningside/#:~:text=Morningside%20Cottage%20was%20erected%20as,town%20and%20the%20surrounding%20landscape.). Somebody operates a few tents there, making it a good starting point for those who want to climb Bondwa Peak.

The Choma Waterfalls are popular destination for local tourists too. For those who do not fancy to hike the whole distance and back, there are boda (moto) drivers available all along the way who can - depending muddiness of the road - bring you all the way up to or back from the falls. There are some food stalls on the road just above the falls, and on certain days performances of Uluguru drums and dancing. You are asked to pay an entrance fee to go down to the falls
