The Sant Nicolau river has its origin in the Estany Llong and is fed by the waters of at least twelve lakes during its brief journey until it reaches the Noguera del Tor. Despite its short length, its force is intense, as it crosses one of the most captivating valleys of the Aigüestortes National Park. This valley is surrounded by imposing mountains and forests that have a particular charm.

The cable car takes you from about 1700 to 2100 m and thus to a good starting point in the southern Aigües Tortes area. More accessible and less crowded than from the northeast via the Estany de Sant Maurici.

Another of the tunnels that we found during our passage through the Vall Fosca greenway. An emblematic place, at 2200 meters of altitude, we will cross an old train track, currently in disuse, and we will cross its tunnels. In few places in the world can we find a train track at such a height! If we go with children, I recommend taking a small flashlight to cross the tunnels, some are a little longer or have the occasional puddle.

As we pass through the Vía Verde de la Vall Fosca, we come across this lake of glacial origin, located in the Vall Fosca, at 2,140 m above sea level. There is an information point nearby. Easy access is from the Vall Fosca cable car (tickets must be purchased online)
