This is indeed a very nice photo, but the chance of catching such lighting conditions here on your own tour is slim. Most people will probably just find a completely normal piece of forest here.

😢Unfortunately, this artistically valuable stack of wood no longer exists. The artist (who sits at the cash register at the tourist information/mill) removed it because it was becoming unsightly due to the weather and burned it. 🥲 it no longer exists!

St. Donatus Church is located in the center of Larochette, right on the market square. It was built between 1860 and 1862 by architect Charles Arendt. The murals in the choir are by Nicolas Brücher (1874-1957) and are a feast for the eyes. St. Donatus Church in Larochette is currently closed for maintenance and can only be viewed from the outside.

At the entrance to the village of Hersberg stands an old oak tree with a hollow trunk embedded in a niche containing a statue of Our Lady. This tree is said to be the oldest in our country and is classified as a natural monument. This venerable oak, with a circumference of almost seven meters, and containing a 0.80-meter-high, 0.65-meter-wide, and 0.70-meter-deep niche enclosed by an iron grille, has long housed a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, known as Maria im Walde (Mary in the Woods), or simply an image. Every year on the evening of August 15th (usually around 8:15 PM), many devotees of Our Lady gather in Altrier for a candlelight procession. On May 30, 1731, two of the three brothers are said to have been killed by lightning near the oak. The survivor supposedly erected the statue in gratitude for his salvation.
