At four meters high, the Janus Fountain in Bad Segeberg's pedestrian zone is a true heavyweight with a minimalist design. Sculptor Frauke Wehberg created it in 1993 for the local Volksbank, which was celebrating its anniversary. Inspired by the two-faced Roman god Janus, the fountain features not only two vertical columns but also two water basins facing in different directions. Opened again in May 2025 after the path was closed in 2018. Pioneers from the Lettow-Vorbeck Barracks built the so-called Soldiers' Bridge in the 1970s. Soldiers used the bridge as a shortcut on their way to the southern part of the city. Today, the bridge is part of the Mönchsweg long-distance hiking trail.
