December 9, 2025, Beautiful boardwalk in Mefjord

Mefjord is home to a wetland that is pleasant to walk through. A boardwalk allows you to cross it where necessary.

In Mefjord, the lake Storvatnet offers an idyllic setting. The surrounding mountains are reflected in its waters.

Grytetippen peak (altitude 885m). Tough climb to get here, but the view is wonderful! The hike is far less popular than the one to nearby but much lower peak Barden.

Nikkelverk is a former mine at Senja in Troms and Finnmark , which operated for 14 years (1872 – 1886), and which now remains as a cultural site. There are still some remaining buildings. Mining pit areas, walls after spoon houses, voice houses and smelting huts. The railway route, the stone quay and the slag fill are also visible. At the mine, you will find a quarry and a transport road. In connection with the mining, a Hydro-powered electricity plant was built in 1882. It generated 6.5 kW which were used for lighting. This was the first hydroelectric plant in Europe and possibly in the world. // SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA

When it's really unpleasant outside, you can go in this cosy shelter.

One of Senja's gorgeous peaks, which offers a truly breathtaking view in all directions. The ascent is exhausting, but always on well visible and easy to walk paths. Only the summit part is a bit exposed. The highest, dizzying point can be climbed relatively easily (with us, however, was also fantastic weather and absolute calm).
