Here is a recent update - pull-down chain is intact

There used to be a chain dangling from the end of the upraised bridge to enable users on the far bank to pull it down. I will check the next time I walk that way and update this if it has been reinstated.

Port Meadow is a wonderful area which hasn't been cultivated for over 4,000 years. The 440-acre riverside meadow is common grazing land and incredibly rich in grass and meadow plant species. It's also a beautiful place to run loops, with plenty of trails and the riverside paths to follow. Great pubs surround the area, and it's easily accessed from Oxford or the station.
