This 18th-century watermill is a reminder of the Tillingbourne Valley's industrial past. At the peak of industry, there were 24 known mills along the 11 mile (18 km) course of the river. Today, the mill is managed and cared for by the National Trust.

Lovely track along the downs link / pilgrims way

A great spot for woodland tree bathing, green, space and nature all around. Today, I had a chat with a Buzzard and Kestrel. I also heard a Wren and Goldcrest nearby. Weekday afternoons best for limited other folk. Otherwise, it is popular with dog walkers and explorative children.

Very sandy. Geology changes from the chalk and flint of the rest of the downs to green sand (not green). Not easy to walk on when it's dry!

This 200-acre (81 ha) area of woodland and meadows rises above Guildford and makes for a great walk from the town centre. There are some magnificent views, particularly across Chilworth on the south side of the woodland. It's easy to link Chantry Wood to St Martha's Hill to the east, which is adorned by a pretty church and also boasts excellent vistas of the surrounding countryside.

This descend is quite tricky even in dry weather, let alone in rain. Avoid, if you can. For some reason barbed wire is super close to the singletrack (it's like less than 1 feet away from your shoulder) and fast downhill is quite dangerous on this very narrow lane. You can use the wider "road" but it's a private land and the landlord may be not very happy to see you there. And it's also muddy.

This memorial stands about 12 feet tall and is hewn from the base of a giant redwood tree. The plaque states that the former "giant redwood tree was planted by Ed Dorran in memorial of all those who gave their lives for our freedom". It would appear that the original giant redwood must have died recently and that this carved memorial has been made to continue the tree's memory and tribute.
