It's amazing how many ups and downs this wooded inland dune landscape of Boomberge has. It used to be a heathland with flocks of sheep, but is now covered in conifers, oak and birch. It's a shame that the heath is no longer there. But the hills are still there and they are also good terrain for mountain bikers.

The Boomberge were formed during the last ice age 10,000 years ago by sand deposits from water-rich rivers. Due to its popularity, the nature reserve sometimes reaches its limits, which is why there are designated paths whose use helps protect nature.
