There are several "proper" paths on the long summit plateau. A few cairns, visible from afar, indicate the direction. You then find your own way to the next cairn or survey point.

The survey point is visible from afar and serves as a signpost on the raised moor, where there is no other marked path. From here you should head north/right and head towards the fence that is already visible, which you then follow to the right. We had some problems with orientation for a moment and made an extra loop (unfortunately I can't correct the path).

This loop starts just outside the village and takes you through Tourmakeady Wood. The highlight is this spectacular waterfall which you pass en-route.

This area of Clonbur Woods is full of hardpacked trails and makes for a great family walk through the trees and with plenty of views of Lough Mask. The area was called the Ashford Estate up to 1939 and was previously owned by the Guinness family.

Rosshill cemetery surrounds the ruins of Teampall Brendain. Now shrouded in green and partly reclaimed by nature. Take a look at the western doorway and closeby you will find The Ogham Stone.

It is a very small parking lot. At the top of the mountain there is no trail, you have to look for yourself to get on the other side of the trail that leads back to the Coolin Lough.

The ascent is steep, but the view is fantastic.
