In the center of the town there is a monument to Aleksandre Qazbegi. The house where he was born was converted into a local museum. In addition to originals of his manuscripts and the antique objects found in 1877, it also shows Alexander Pushkin's saber and a tobacco pipe, which he used on his journey through Georgia in 1829/30. Aleksandre Qazbegi (1848-1893) was a Georgian writer. His pseudonym was Motschkhubaridze (“Trade Seeker”).
