Historical background: The bridge was built at the end of the 19th century (around 1888/1889). Originally, it primarily served the workers of the local spinning mills and textile factories as a direct route across the river to their workplace. Monument protection & renovation: As one of the few surviving structures of its kind in Saxony, the bridge is under monument protection. It has been restored several times over the years and repaired after severe flood damage (including the August 2002 flood).

Anyone expecting a view of the castle "at exactly this spot" will not get one, at least not in the summer. I agree with "@Uli & Berli 🐕 sind unterwegs". There is a pleasant resting place here. The view is quite overgrown.

The swing bridge is a great hollow crossing with a snack bar behind it😍. It gets exciting in windy conditions.

If you don't want to do the big round around the reservoir, here you have the opportunity to shorten the route. For €2.50 per adult and €1.50 for children, you can cross over to the Seebühne. From the reservoir car park, via the castle and back, you can achieve a relaxed 6-7 km.
