Idyllic avenue of 40 lime trees and 27 ash trees, which are about 100 years old. This combination is rather rare, the age of the lime trees is about 1000 years, while that of the ash trees is 400 years.

Very close to the Volsbach, people settled, first mentioned in documents in 1281, built at least 7 glassworks and used the available raw materials water, quartz sand and forest to create mainly club and rod glasses. The place lost importance and was abandoned. Today, a small wood at the foot of the Zehnsberg bears witness to the deserted settlement.

On the hiking trail from Burg Scharfenstein in the direction of Wingerode, in the middle of the village center of Beuren, is Thuringia's best-preserved watchtower. It is a round tower with a wall thickness of up to 1.80 m, built around 1250/1290. At the very top of the tower, which served as a church/bell tower for centuries, is a living space with a fireplace.

At the top of a wooded hill you can see Scharfenstein Castle. The view is quite beautiful, not only because of the castle, but because of the landscape itself.
