The Eilenburg ski jump A ski jump and flat land – these only go together in Eilenburg. On the new jump, built in 1999, which today bears the name Josef Dotzauer, jumps of around 30 meters are possible. Its predecessor, built in 1958, had to be closed in 1994 for safety reasons. For some years, only the two smaller jumps were available. After a long struggle, the ski jumpers of SV Lok Eilenburg were able to inaugurate their newly built jump on November 6, 1999, in the presence of world champion Jens Weißflog. In addition to the state, district, city, and sponsors, the citizens also contributed 40,000 Marks to the 250,000 Mark new construction through the building block campaign. The Landessportbund Sachsen recognized the ski department as a talent center. Over 50 ski jumpers have already gone from Eilenburg to the training center in Oberhof.
