At this spot, located in the middle of the forest, the hiker encounters not only a small resting place, but also a powerful leap back in human history, long before the beginning of the current Christian era: An Iron Age ring fort once stood here, far from the banks of the river Sieg.

Even though only with goodwill can something still be recognized from the ring rampart, the ascent through the beautiful nature, far from traffic noise, is worthwhile. And the rest area invites you to linger.

This newly built hut (2025) is truly a luxurious break spot: a forest sofa, a grill, weather-protected, sturdy tables and seating, and even more benches outside with a fantastic view. Perfect for larger groups, too! A picnic station and a trolley commemorating the basalt mining are also available.
