Not too bad riding over cobbles if you find discomfort just stand on your pedals. Can get a little slippy when it's rained

The Continental is a Preston pub and restaurant serving British cuisine and real ales, as well as hosting live music gigs, films, cultural events and the now-legendary Continental Beer Festival. Situated in an idyllic riverside location, just out of the town centre, there can be no more perfect place, winter or summer than to relax in The Continental garden by the river or catch a gig in the event space – The Boatyard.

Nice little spot within Priory Park, were there is a series of Sculptures of the animals you could see if you are lucky!

This trail follows the course of one of the old railway lines that cross the Ribble and head south. The train line now crosses the river on the viaduct to the west and this path is left for runners and other users. Like all old railway trails it's great to run on: nice surface, flat and car free. This makes a great loop along the river and through Avenham & Miller parks. The parkrun happens on the north side of the river each Saturday and you can use this to warm up away from the crowds or enjoy a longer run.

Avenham & the neighbouring Miller Park lie along the river Ribble on the southern edge of Preston. It was created in the 1860's and has a famous Japanese Rock Garden with unusual ornamental plants & beautiful water features. The riverside path, parkland trails and larger park on the other side of the river make a great place to run. The Preston parkrun is held here every Saturday at 9:00. The junior parkrun takes place every Sunday at 9:00.

Backing onto the River Ribble, Avenham Park is a classic example of traditional Victorian Parkland in the North West. Edward Milner designed the park to form a natural amphitheatre notably with a Japanese Rock Garden that includes a wide variety of unusual ornamental plants and water features. The park has a popular cafe for a warming beverage in the winter or a cooling ice cream on those hot and sunny days! It is definitely worth jumping off the bike and having a walk around this varied park.
