Lovely inn with restaurant and rooms. The rooms in the courtyard are modern and clean, and the shower was big enough for me to get a few days worth of off road /bikepacking mud off of me and my cycling gear. Good breakfast, fun and lively restaurant and bar. Need more whisky choice though!

February 26, 2023, Forfar

Forfar is the county town and administrative centre of Angus. The town dates to Roman occupation. It was a traditional market town and became industrial with the manufacture of linin and jute. Today the main work is either agriculture or tourism. It's a good base for a road cycling holiday allowing access to the coastal roads or the cairngorms.

You can choose between 4 different trails of different lengths in Crombie Country Park. Fantastic strolls through the forest are guaranteed! My walk, following mostly the “Discovery Trail”, offers also a splendid view of the lake. Some practical info: the car park for the whole day costs 2.80 GBP (May 2020), and you’ll find lots of benches for a nice picnic :p
