The church pictured is the Igreja Matriz de Santa Cruz (Main Church of Santa Cruz) in Praia da Vitória on the island of Terceira, Azores. The church is considered one of the largest and most beautiful religious buildings on Terceira. Originally founded in the 15th century, it has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, preserving elements from its original period. Of particular note are the majestic Gothic main portal and the Manueline-style side door, unique in the Azores. Inside, the church houses a beautiful gilded high altar. The church has been listed as a Property of Public Interest since June 11, 1980.
