Walking along Bony Street beneath the Royal Castle towards Sanowa Street and the newly constructed bridge over the San River, on the left you'll pass a corner plot with a group of old trees. The area is fenced and inaccessible, but the trees are clearly visible. Bony Street is relatively new, so the plot in question belongs to Rybacka Street, which is invisible from here and runs beneath the Orthodox church and ends in a dead-end. More details are provided by the Central Register of Forms of Nature Conservation (excerpts below). "Data Form for a Natural Monument 1. Full name of the monument: "To those who gave their lives to Poland 1939-1989". The monument was rebuilt after the end of the socialist system in Poland, supplementing the brick base with a stylized sculpture made of metal and expanding the list of victims to include the period of the so-called People's Republic of Poland. During this period (1944-1989), the socialist authorities proclaimed slogans of progress, equal rights, and the power of the working people of cities and villages, and quietly tortured and murdered their opponents who did not agree to the subordination of Poland to the Soviet Union, deprivation of private property, and harassment of the Church. Works of art in the open-air museum

The official name of the open-air museum is the Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok (MBL). It covers a vast area on the right bank of the San River, limited from the north by a high escarpment, on which the Biała Góra housing estate is located, and from the east by the forested area of the Słonne Mountains. A great attraction is the Galician Market Square, where various occasional events are organized, e.g. before the holidays. The open-air museum lives according to its own calendar and is eagerly visited not only by tourists but also by the residents of Sanok. On the open-air museum area, divided into geographical and cultural sectors, you can visit many wooden buildings and see their equipment. The resourcefulness of the residents of that time, who were able to live and support their families in very modest conditions, without electricity, running water, gas and so many devices that we cannot imagine life without today, is admirable. The oil sector is a separate attraction. To get a better understanding of the range of objects gathered here, it is best to use the services of a guide. WW

The facility with a small garden is located in the corner of the Market Square, above the Town Hall. It mainly offers ice cream from a vending machine, of various types. On hot days, you can find some shade in this part of the Market Square, near the tenement houses. Plus, there's no busy road running through this corner, so it's quieter here. WW

Catholic priest Jerzy Popiełuszko is the heroic chaplain of Solidarity. He supported workers, said masses for the homeland, which made him a victim of the communist propaganda apparatus, and then he was brutally murdered by officers of the state Security Service in 1984. Being next to this monument today, I did not know that on this day - June 6, is the fourteenth anniversary of the beatification of Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko. WW
