Daniel Krueger
September 26, 2023, South Fork San Gabriel River

This section of South San Gabriel River meanders along 525-acre Garey Park in the very west of Georgetown. The park is a great place to relax at the riverside, as the river is usually more tranquil here (depending on the season and weather).

From this park, just north of the dam, you get a really nice look over Lake Georgetown. It's the perfect spot to just sit, relax and enjoy the views. And in summer there is no reason to not go for a little swim!

The trail follows the North Fork San Gabriel River from North San Gabriel Dam to River Road. There are multiple sections where you can step down to the river but most of the main trail leads through forest. Thanks to the trees and the paved trail, this is a very easy hike that can be done by families and even with strollers or wheelchairs.
