The castle was probably built at the end of the 11th century. Around 1150, the von Olbrück family—the presumed builders—died out, passing the castle to the Counts of Wied. Today, the castle is leased to the municipality of Brohltal and is one of the region's tourist attractions. The tower is accessible, and in good weather, you can enjoy a magnificent view.
