This tourist center in Mullerthal is the right place for anyone who wants to know more about the hiking possibilities in this region and further in Luxembourg. It is located in a former mill, which was completely renovated. In 2009, the mill was reopened as a Tourist Center under the leadership of the "Syndicat d'Initiative du Tourisme de la commune de Waldbillig". Since then, the center has offered a wide range of information and various events. Several hikes start from this location. There is ample parking, toilets, an adventurous playground for children, and a brasserie.

At the entrance to the village of Hersberg stands an old oak tree with a hollow trunk embedded in a niche containing a statue of Our Lady. This tree is said to be the oldest in our country and is classified as a natural monument. This venerable oak, with a circumference of almost seven meters, and containing a 0.80-meter-high, 0.65-meter-wide, and 0.70-meter-deep niche enclosed by an iron grille, has long housed a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, known as Maria im Walde (Mary in the Woods), or simply an image. Every year on the evening of August 15th (usually around 8:15 PM), many devotees of Our Lady gather in Altrier for a candlelight procession. On May 30, 1731, two of the three brothers are said to have been killed by lightning near the oak. The survivor supposedly erected the statue in gratitude for his salvation. A beautiful gorge that's easy to navigate thanks to the many steps. It doesn't matter, the gorge is easy to walk from both sides.
