Steep and rocky ascent (approx. 16%). Possibly completely rideable for well-trained gravel bikers, but from halfway up I had to push. 😒

A visit to the historic forest shower in Hainbachtal is a "must". The support association based in Gleisweiler celebrated its thirtieth anniversary on September 4, 2026. The author of this notice is a member of the association himself.

One of the best viewpoints in the Palatinate Forest — a sweeping panorama over the vineyard plain stretching all the way to the Rhine and beyond. The rocky outcrop at the castle makes this spot especially dramatic and photogenic.

On a fabulous path through a wonderful forest stands this bench, which will still offer a view across the Modenbachtal into the Pfälzer Wald for a few more years. At some point, the trees will have closed this viewing window again. Until then, you can enjoy a dreamlike view and absolute tranquility here (OK, every now and then airplanes and other hikers). In fact, it is also the only bench on this section of the path.

Beautifully located and pretty little wine village diagonally above Roth. Many wineries and some places to stop for refreshments.
