September 29, 2026, Harold Point

Harold Point is a peninsula that juts out into Georgian Bay, with steep granite slopes, carved out during the last ice age. At the end of a short trail from Harold Point Campground is an iconic viewpoint perfect for sunsets and windswept views of the Parry Sound. There are designated cliff-jumping spots around the headland as well, but if you choose to jump, proceed with caution.

The Recreational Trail is a multi-use paved path that acts as a non-vehicular path following Killbear Park Road. The trail stretches all the way to the historic Lighthouse Point, passing under dense hemlock groves, through hardwood forests, and past ancient rock outcrops. Campers at Harold Point Campground often use the trail to stretch their legs.

There's plenty of easy parking space here, just to the east of where Rose Point Trail crosses James Bay Junction Road. In a pinch, there's additional parking a bit further to the east, off Oastler Park Drive.

This trail is one of Parry Sound's hidden gems, and takes you on a paved path along the waterside that the town keeps clean and quiet. Here, you have access to a long gravel beach that parallels the trail.

As you cross over the water you get a nice view up to the Parry Sound CPR Trestle. The pedestrian bridge is painted with mini graffiti murals and makes for a lovely walk.
