The current mill body dates from 1890, in that year the predecessor burned down due to a lightning strike. That predecessor was a belt-stellingmolen, as was the mill of Voorthuizen. During the reconstruction in 1890, a round stone body was built on the octagonal substructure (which is still present in the mound). The cap and parts of the interior were from an octagonal bovenkruier, until the 'restoration' into a dwelling the old floor beams were still there, those were the support beams of an octagon. The cap showed many Zaanse characteristics, so it can be assumed that a demolished Zaanse mill must have been used here during the reconstruction.

Heathland is a collective name for various species of the heather family. In addition to common heather and bell heather, the park is also home to several rarer species such as crowberry and lavender heather. Here you'll have a magnificent view, and with a bit of luck, you'll spot all sorts of wildlife. Binoculars are recommended.
