June 3, 2025, Former Dźwierzuty (Mensguth) Train Station

The historic building of the former Dźwierzuty (Mensguth) station. Built in 1908/1909 by Königlich Preußische Eisenbahn-Verwaltung (KPEV) together with the construction of the 262 Szczytno – Biskupiec Reszelski (Ortelsburg – Bischofsburg) railway line. Unfortunately, it has not been preserved to the full extent as can be seen in the archive photo.

Beach near the road. There is a convenient parking lot for a dozen or so cars by the road. There is a pier and a bench on the beach. Smooth sand and a gentle approach - very good for younger children.

A signpost carved in stone is more of a curiosity than something common

It's good that there are such points on the routes, but is it an attraction? However, since several people have considered the signpost to be an attraction, it would be worth adding at least one hint about it. As a rule, signposts stand at crossroads and in this case you can describe something, e.g. that by turning right you will reach Lake Zyzdrój Mały. One photo does not convey the essence of the attraction and the lack of a description makes it unnecessary.

Church of the Holy Trinity in Dźwierzuty. The church was built on the edge of the village of Dźwierzuty (formerly Swersutten, German: Mensguth). The village is located in the Szczytno district. In the second half of the 19th century, the Catholic population of Dźwierzuty and the surrounding area increased. As a result of their efforts, on January 2, 1871, the new community was assigned a pastor. In the years 1873-1876, a site was purchased for the construction of a church. The foundation stone was blessed on May 18, 1880, and on September 19, 1883, the dean of Barczewo, Father Edward Stock, consecrated the church. The church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity and the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary by Bishop Filip Krementz on June 24, 1884. The parish was established on November 19, 1891. It is an oriented, single-nave church, built in the neo-Gothic style, made of red brick, unplastered. On the west side, it is adjoined by a tower with a porch, topped with a pointed dome. There is also an entrance to the choir by a semi-cylindrical staircase by the tower. On the eastern side, there is a presbytery. The body of the building was buttressed, topped with stepped gables and a gable roof made of tiles. The pointed arch windows were filled with tracery. The interior of the nave was covered with a ceiling supported by wooden beams with crosswise supporting beams. In the presbytery, lower than the nave, a star vault was used. http://leksykonkultury.ceik.eu/index.php/Ko%C5%9Bci%C3%B3%C5%82_pw._Tr%C3%B3jcy_Przenaj%C5%9Bwi%C4%99tszej_w_D%C5%BAwierzutach

In 1904, the Hinterdamerau Forest District (now the Jęczniki Forest District) was taken over and managed for 27 years by Reinhold Desens. It was this forester who came up with the idea of setting up the "Hindenburg Stone". His name was even placed on one side of the stone. The unveiling of the stone took place in beautiful autumn weather on Sunday, October 2, 1929, on the eighty-second birthday of Paul von Hindenburg. Many foresters and residents of nearby villages took part in the ceremony. On one side, the stone had a smooth surface, on which there was an inscription on a white background: "Die Treue ist das Mark der Ehre. “Zum Andenken an den 82. Geburtstag des Reichspräsidenten von Hindenburg 2.10.1929” (Loyalty is a sign of honor. In memory of the 82nd anniversary of the birth of the Reich President von Hindenburg 2.10.1929”). On the other side, the following inscription was placed: “Allzeit treu bereit für des Reiches Herrlichkeit.” (Always faithful, ready for the glory of the Reich). Inscriptions related to the people who made the monument can still be seen on the stone. The granite boulder, pulled out of Lake Sasek Wielki in winter, was worked by stonemason Heinrich Herholz from Szczytno. The inscriptions on it were chosen by Desens and made by Szczytno master painter - Leo Dzwonkowski. The boulder was placed near the forester's lodge at the junction of three roads. Red oaks were planted around it. Currently, the oaks and the boulder are an interesting element of the nature educational trail. https://sladamihistorii.org/?p=510

What an attraction the building is, of which there are many, if not to say a lot, in this region. Apart from that, it does not present any values that would contribute to its recognition as an attraction.
