Useful way to get to/from the nearby East Lancs Road. However, if you're a pensioner with a heavy bike and not as strong as you used to be, please be aware that you have to lift your bike, the steps are quite steep and it feels qite high, so not as easy to get over as most of the old stone/brick bridges which have a shallower approach, where you can either ride or wheel your bike over.

Nice and wide so easy passing walkers. Several road crossings so take care.

Love this canal, it is good for a walk, run or even gentle cycle.

Mind the partially dismantled A-gate barrier (in the shade) at the bottom of the south side ramp.

Nice place to stop on a sunny day, there is a pub and the remains of a 15th Century grade II listed gatehouse that is interesting to look at.
