The Piersanti Mattarella park, formerly Giardino Inglese, is a public park in Palermo designed in 1851 by the architect Giovan Battista Filippo Basile. Basile followed a very fashionable scheme in the second half of the 19th century, namely not to create a measured and geometric space (the so-called "Italian garden") but following the natural shapes and morphology of the terrain, typical of the "English garden". To make the atmosphere even more suggestive and exotic, according to the taste of the period, plants from all over the world were introduced, chosen in collaboration with the Palermitan botanist Vincenzo Tineo. The garden comprises two parts, separated by the viale della Libertà: the wood and the parterre, where stands what was anciently called "Villa Garibaldi". Free avenues and winding paths wind through seven small hills and ravines, partly existing and partly specially created, areas cultivated with groves, gardens and hedges with curvilinear outlines. Since 2020 it has been dedicated to the memory of the former President of the Region of Sicily, Piersanti Mattarella, victim, on January 6, 1980, of a vile political-mafia ambush.

Created by the Palermitan artist Igor Scalisi Palminteri in July 2019, the mural depicts Saint Erasmus, the patron saint of fishermen. The painting, in a very evocative position overlooking the homonymous small harbor, is "dedicated to all the women and men who save our sisters and brothers at sea". Today it has also become a strong symbol of protection and welcome for those arriving or working in the Sicilian city.

Inaugurated in July 2017, the mural in memory of Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone was created at the behest of the National Association of Magistrates, on a wall of the "Gioieni-Trabia" Nautical Institute in Palermo. The large portrait, inspired by the famous photograph by Tony Gentile, was created by the Sicilian street artists Rosk and Loste.
