The DGD Klinik Hohe Mark in Oberursel (Taunus) is a renowned, historically rich specialist clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychosomatics. The idyllic area, located directly on the edge of the Taunus forest, boasts a fascinating architectural and medical development. Origin and architecture The institution was founded on March 1, 1904, by the internationally renowned neurologist Prof. Dr. A. A. Friedländer as an exclusive private clinic, primarily aimed at European high nobility. In the conception of the buildings in 1902, Friedländer and the Frankfurt architect Mehs pursued a pioneering approach: the complex was to deliberately lose any hospital character. Instead, the buildings were erected in the picturesque image of a noble, stately country house in the contemporary Reform style, embedded in a spacious park landscape close to the forest. After economic turbulences and plans by the SA to acquire the grounds, the Deutsche Gemeinschafts-Diakonieverband (DGD) finally took over the facility in July 1933 and reopened it in October of the same year as a Christian health resort.

An incredibly beautiful spot and worth every detour. A wonderful path leads directly along the water, and the water itself invites you to swim (but unfortunately it is forbidden).

My personal highlight of today's tour through new areas! The renaturalized Sulzbach stream in the tranquil park (despite being in the heart of Frankfurt and adjacent to the A66 motorway) is truly inviting and perfect for relaxing and taking a breather. It's always amazing what hidden gems Frankfurt has to offer!
