The Nettebruchsee (often simply called Nettebruch or Nettebruch-See) is an approximately 14-hectare body of water in the urban area of Nettetal (district of Lobberich) in western North Rhine-Westphalia. It belongs to the group of the scenically attractive Netteseen lakes and is nestled in the German-Dutch Schwalm-Nette Nature Park. Origin and Nature: Originally, the area of the present-day lake was a damp lowland moor. Through intensive peat extraction (the so-called 'Austorfen' for fuel production) in past centuries, as well as the damming of the small river Nette, the current lake basins were formed. Today, the lake is surrounded by old alder swamp forests, sedge carpets, oak avenues, and agricultural areas.

This national park is really worth a trip. Magnificent dune and heath landscape with wonderful paths. Partially asphalted and mostly easily passable gravel. It is also very good to mention that these paths always run separately from the forest paths. 👍🏼
