The Archbishop of Bremen from the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf met Gertrud von Hermeling-Heimbruch here in 1612, on the knight's seat of her husband Heinrich Corlehake Hermeling. In 1613, the year before his death, Heinrich bequeathed the previously free estate to the sovereign; in return, Johann Friedrich appointed the lord of the manor as the bailiff of the offices of Thedinghausen and Langwedel. After his death, the Archbishop built the manor house as a befitting residence for his widow, his now lover. However, Gertrud died on March 16, 1620, while construction was still underway. The two-storey brick building is characterised by three widely projecting risalites or projections on the main façade. The middle one contains a spiral staircase, while the side ones belong to a slightly later construction phase, as can be seen from the construction seams. Richly decorated gables, frames and pilaster strips made of sandstone structure the unplastered exterior surfaces.
