Bowen Lake is the deepest lake in Chain O'Lakes State Park at 65 feet. There are several small creeks that feed into the lake.

In 1915, the first school house in the area was built in this spot. It was named after a local landowner, Henry Stanley. Now, there is a marker and the original schoolhouse bell on the spot where the building used to stand.
